Our theme this month is: LET KINDNESS RIPPLE! We all know that kindness is the world’s most contagious chain reaction—like one person holds the door, the next person buys the car behind them some Dutch Bros, and suddenly a stranger is smiling like they just won a tiny, one-man lottery. It’s the only ripple effect where nobody ends up sopping wet, but somehow everyone feels better. You never know how far it goes—your small good deed might be the reason someone doesn’t yell at their kids, who then don’t kick their sibling, who then doesn’t grow up to be a psychopathic supervillain. Honestly, kindness might be humanity’s best long-term investment plan. So let’s get allllll up into that kindness!
After learning a bit about our this month’s theme, we will spend the remainder of our time working on our three kindness projects. For our first project, we will create some gifts for homeless folks who will participate in the Heat Relief Program in the month of May. Second, we will talk about the kind of people we are - and who we want to be - in order to create something wonderful to submit to Students Rebuild for their Unique and United Campaign. Each submission raises $5 to support organizations worldwide that foster connection and champion collaborative change. Third, we will make some very thoughtful Mother’s Day goody bags for moms in need; the bags will be distributed by Gathering Humanity.
Our events are geared to kids of all ages, and we have had kids ranging in age from 1 to 18 at our events. So all are welcome! Parents or guardians are asked to stay with their children through the length of the program to assist the children in completing the projects.
We charge a nominal materials fee per child. Thus, the supplies for each of these activities will be provided as part of the cost of participation. Detailed instructions for each project will be provided as well. The fee will secure your spot in our program. If, for any reason, you must cancel your registration, please do so at least 10 days before the event in order to secure a full refund. Otherwise, your materials fee will be forfeited.
