AUGUST 2026: The ABCs of Kindness

  • Midwest Food Bank Community Room 725 East Baseline Road Gilbert, AZ, 85233 United States (map)

Our theme this month is: The ABCs of Kindness! Summer is almost over, and that means it's time to say goodbye to all the important things... Goodbye to sleeping until your hair has made three different hairstyles all by itself. Goodbye to asking, "What's for breakfast?" at 11:47 a.m. Goodbye to wearing swimsuits, pajamas, or the exact same T-shirt for three days because it still smells “fine-ish" Goodbye to popsicles for lunch (probably). Pretty soon, alarm clocks will be ringing. Backpacks will be packed. Shoes will magically disappear sometime between bedtime and bus time. A new school year means new teachers, new classmates, new adventures, and lots of chances to learn something new. But there's one thing that shouldn't change just because summer is over: Kindness. Every day, our kids have dozens of opportunities to make someone's day a little brighter. At Kids for Kindness, we’re going to help do a major, big time kick-off for kindness season like Messi on the penalty kick line!

After learning a bit about our this month’s theme, we will spend the remainder of our time working on our three kindness projects. For our first project, we will make a special back-to-school gift to give to our favorite teacher, to let him or her know they are appreciated and seen. Second, we will make some really fun sensory toys for kiddos with autism. And third, we will decorate and stuff backpacks with school supplies to donate to kiddos who have only recently arrived in the United States!

Our events are geared to kids of all ages, and we have had kids ranging in age from 1 to 18 at our events. So all are welcome! Parents or guardians are asked to stay with their children through the length of the program to assist the children in completing the projects.

We charge a nominal materials fee per child. Thus, the supplies for each of these activities will be provided as part of the cost of participation. Detailed instructions for each project will be provided as well. The fee will secure your spot in our program. If, for any reason, you must cancel your registration, please do so at least 10 days before the event in order to secure a full refund. Otherwise, your materials fee will be forfeited.
